These are the rules for our game. We favor rules interpretations which create a clear, understandable system that the players can rely on without needing to wonder how the referee will rule. "Rulings" are reserved for when the rules are silent.
- Except as otherwise specified, the rules as written in the AD&D Players Handbook, first edition, 6th printing, January 1980 and Dungeon Masters Guide, revised edition, December 1979. Players need not own these books and for use in my game, may refer to my copies of the Players Handbook and Dungeon Masters Guide. If you are a player in my game and these links do not work for you, please let me know and I will grant you access.
- All characters use the male values for ability score minimum and maximum on PH pp. 9 & 15 regardless of sex.
- At first level, the minimum hit point roll is ½ the hit die or dice, rounded up. That is, 3 for d4, 4 for d6, 5 for d8, 6 for d10, and 9 for 2d8. Lower rolls are adjusted to this minimum before any bonuses or penalties are applied.
- Character family background rules are added.
- Ability
stats are rolled according to "Method I." Any set of scores in which
there are not at least two rolls over 14 may be re-rolled. Any qualifying set of scores should be kept and played. Players are welcome to accept the challenge of playing a character that does not meet this standard if they like.
- Smooth Progression Attack Matrices
- Player Character Non-Professional Skills extends the rules of same name described in DMG p.12.
- Heavy and Light Bows
- Supplemental Armor Rules
